01-10-2013 - On Saturday 28 September 2013, our insurance company TVM awarded the 'Knights of the Road' for the 45th time.
The main coach of the TVM speed-skating crew, Gerard Kemkers, handed out silver, gold and diamond 'Knights of the Road' to truck drivers. Kuypers Neer also attaches great value to the workmanship of our drivers, which is why we fully support the TVM safety plan.
Ambassadors of the sector
Drivers and their trucks cover quite a lot of kilometres each year. This is why it is so important to keep the level of workmanship of these drivers high, to encourage and reward them, if possible. TVM does this with the TVM safety plan, which Knights of the Road forms part of. Transport companies who are insured with TVM can have their drivers participate in this. Drivers who, for a period of 3 (bronze), 5 (silver), 10 (gold) or 20 (gold and diamond) years have not been involved in a traffic accident or have been involved in one but without being at fault, qualify for a special honourable award. These professionals are ambassadors for the sector.
As a mobility insurer, TVM has set up this safety plan not only to prevent damage and loss, but also to make a positive contribution to improving road safety in general.
More than 25,000 Knights of the Road
The TVM safety plan was set up in 1966 and by 2013 it had more than 25,000 Knights.
- No fewer than 576 drivers received a Bronze Knight of the Road award in 2013. They have realised three consecutive no-fault years.
- 434 drivers received the Silver Knight of the Road award, presented by Rintje Ritsma, Olympic speed-skating champion. These knights have realised five consecutive no-fault years.
- 98 drivers received the Golden Knight of the Road award, presented by Gerard Kemkers. These knights have realised ten consecutive no-fault years.
- 10 drivers received the highest possible award, the Diamond Knight of the Road award, presented by Gerard Kemkers. These drivers managed to achieve twenty consecutive no-fault years.
Knights of the Road at Kuypers Neer
This year, a grand total of 6 Kuyper Neer drivers will be awarded.
Mark Nijnens was one of 98 drivers who received a Golden Knight of the Road award. TVM spoilt him and his wife Miranda during a warm welcome in Hart van Holland in Nijkerk.
Mark Nijnens is the first driver of Kuypers Neer to achieve Golden Knight of the Road since Kuypers Neer's first participation in the TVM safety plan. As such, he has made a positive contribution to the corporate responsibility which our company accepts and promotes through our Transport and Logistics Quality Mark and the Lean-and-Green-Star.
During the next staff party, awards for Bronze Knight of the Road will be presented to:
Cees de Rooy
Furthermore, the company wants to congratulate the knights with achieving this milestone and would like to wish everyone many more safe and no-claim kilometres.
Participation in the TVM safety plan is one of the measures with which Kuypers Neer wants to improve the quality of its services. The training of our drivers plays an important role in that respect.
